We conducted a design probe experiment where we asked users to write down one word that describes their overall experience with Boba Tea. We performed the activity on paper.
We did the probe to people dining in the Tsaocaa Cafe and Mango- Mango Cafe.
People were excited to write on the notepad and enjoyed using the color pencils. A few people described the texture and physical facts about boba, while other described emotional connections. Overall, It brought a smile to their face and highlighted the connection they have with boba.
The size of the word represents how frequently the word was written down by Boba Tea customers during the Design Probe. This shows that fresh, relax and yummy were the most written words. Through this we can gauge users overall experience with boba tea and incorporate these elements in the visual design of our Kiosk interface.
Social and Ethical Implications
Health Information/Allergen Concern:
Customers are able to see all the ingredients in every drink. This will provide support for individuals who are allergic to certain foods, and aid health addicts as well.
Multilingual Support: The ordering system provides language options to accommodate diverse cultural backgrounds. Customers can select their preferred language at the start of the ordering process, reducing language barriers and enhancing usability for non-native speakers. We also went from having Flags of country to represent language to having only letters written in the respective languages as icons. This because one country has many languages and representing a whole country with one language could create neglect for others and flags as a small icon is misleading as India and Italy have very similar flags.
Cultural Flavor Options: The menu includes flavors and customizations that reflect diverse cultural preferences, acknowledging the global appeal of Boba Tea. This allows customers to connect with their heritage or try new flavors from different cultures. The interactively detailed descriptions allow the users to explore more about the ingredients and details of their selections, giving them more understanding and a sense of control.
Social Sharing Features:
The new membership system allows customers to save and share their customized drink creations with friends, creating a sense of community. Customers can invite others to try their unique combinations, fostering social engagement around Boba Tea.
Data Privacy and Transparency: To personalize recommendations, the AI prompt robot only collects minimal and essential data, and customers have clear opt-in options regarding data usage. This transparency builds trust and ensures that personal data is handled responsibly.
